It has no known side-effects nor is there any reason to believe there would be any.

Using an aloe vera gel is a pleasant experience : it soothes and hydrates the skin without adding any oil to it. When applied over a surface of the body, it is invisible and not at all inconvenient. It can be used in combination to other home remedies for acne. It will be ideal, for example, to use it after a clay mask treatment to prevent the skin from drying out. Simply applying a thin layer of gel over the infected areas every day will contribute to minimize acne’s ravages.

It is possible to grow your own aloe vera plant indoors and use the pure gel from the leaves. If you are going to buy the gel, look for a brand that adds as little as possible to the basic substance. Get an organic mixture if you can find one - it is not particularly expensive.
